CONNECTED ONLINE COURSE:

A Journey to Personal & Collective Wellbeing

“We are not free til each one of us is free.” – Martin Luther King

Connected is an experiential journey of deeply engaged, embodied learning and transformation for personal and collective wellbeing. Exploring five spheres of connection: Heart, Body, Mind, Nature and Human Connection, Connected offers a radical soulful practice for healing, wellbeing and a deep sense of belonging.

  • Explore transformative knowledge, guided reflections, embodied practices and practical tools to cultivate connection, compassion and resilience.
  • Be part of a collaborative community of practice generating new ways of thinking, being and doing, for the good of all.
  • Come home to yourself, each other and the world.

Connected is about healing, learning and co-creating connected ways of being with ourselves, each other and the world. At its heart is an understanding of the nature and impacts of trauma and disconnection. But it also goes beyond trauma to focus on the fundamental wholeness of our common experience. This deeply transformative work is embodied, personal and collective. It is rooted in healing, social justice, and shifting paradigms towards connected lives and a connected world. It takes us from information to transformation. And it is for everyone.

“To heal means to ‘make whole,’ and when we feel whole we are in touch with the whole world.”

– Michael Meade

COURSE OVERVIEW

Connected is an antidote to the disconnection, trauma and oppression that affects each one of us living in a global system dominated by a culture and history of patriarchy, colonisation, and capitalism, whether we know it or not.

Connected is about healing, learning and imagining connected ways of being with ourselves, each other and the world. It has an understanding of the nature and impacts of trauma at its heart, but it goes beyond trauma to focus on the fundamental wholeness of our common experience. This deeply transformative work is embodied, personal, and collective. It is rooted in healing, social justice and shifting paradigms towards connected lives and a connected world.

Connected will help you to unpack, map and understand the forces, patterns and systems of connection and disconnection in your own life, and their impact on your own and our collective wellbeing. It offers embodied approaches, practices and ways of thinking, being and doing that support a connected, compassionate and vital life, for the good of all. And it takes places within a community of learning, practice, collaboration and creativity – for engaged and lasting personal, social and cultural change.

The course provides:

  • 5 Learning Modules with comprehensive course materials including: educational workbook, guided reflections, recorded audio and video practices
  • 5 x Monthly 2 hour Online Live Community Sessions (led by Mei Lai Swan & guest facilitators – Saturdays 13 June, 11 July, 8 August, 12 September, 10 October 2020)
  • Supported study groups and peer learning

The course material is offered in 5 modules exploring the 5 spheres of connection, for you to work through in your own order and pace.

The self-paced learning is supported through 5 x monthly guided online community sessions, small study groups, and opportunities for peer learning and connection. These are opportunities to support your learning, reflection and practice, and to build strong community.

The community calls and study groups are optional, if you prefer just to work through the online learning material in your own way.

PRICING & REGISTRATION

Better together

As this program is about community, connection and access, each registration provides space for two participants. Find a friend to journey with and go halves in the cost, share the course with someone you know who can’t afford it, or donate your second place to someone in our wider community (we can help arrange this).

One of our intentions is to widen our circles of connection, so we invite you to reach outside of your inner circles, or outside of your yoga community to share this work with people who might need it but might not have access, resources or not know it exists. Please email info@yogaforhumankind.org if you would like to join but the fees are out of your financial range, and if you are in an emerging/low economy country, please email to discuss local rates.

Please consider which pricing tier best suits your financial circumstances. This one-time course fee provides two places in the course. You will have downloadable, lifetime access to course materials.

In your registration form, you will have the option to select your pricing tier and nominate your course buddy (including the options to donate your second place or do the course by yourself). If you don’t know yet who your buddy will be, that’s absolutely fine! You can still register now, and you will have until 25th May to nominate your buddy.

COURSE CONTENT & STRUCTURE

The course contains five individual but inter-connected modules exploring the Five Spheres of Connection: Heart, Mind, Body, Nature and Human Connection.

Rather than being linear, the course unfolds in spiral progression. The course symbol is the map for the program, mirroring the spiralling of nature found in so many forms and structures. It is a reminder to see and honour the natural movements and patterns of life.

You are invited to start at the Heart, and then move outward in any direction you feel called, ignited and inspired. After each module, you can journey outward to a new module, or spiral back into the centre to refresh your heart before continuing onward.

Each module includes:

  • educational material and contemplations drawn from science, philosophy, social theory, spiritual practice and nature;
  • personal reflection and mapping;
  • exploring symbols and meaning-making;
  • embodied and contemplative practices;
  • practical suggestions for integrating these practices in your daily life.

You are invited to take your time with each module to read, contemplate, practice and integrate. Let your mind and heart wander and deepen into the key ideas. Take your contemplations out into nature, or inward into the nature of your body, and see what unfolds as your own living experience and wisdom.

THE MODULES

Heart –  In our mind-dominated world, privileging the heart is a quiet and radical act. It is a choice, a practice, and a remembrance. If we are to truly support healing and connection, it is also a necessity.

Mind –  Explore Brain-Mind, Heart-Mind, and Body-Mind as an invitation to broaden your concept, understanding and experience of mind, to reclaim its rightful place in the complex wonder of your being.

Body – Your body is your first home. Everything you experience in life, you experience through the vehicle of your body and its senses. This module offers an invitation and a guide to come home to your body and to feel at home in your own skin.

Nature – You belong to nature. You belong to the earth. You belong to the universe. Your body-mind, nature, and the stars are all the universe expressing itself. This module is an embodied invitation to remember and renew your connection and place in the fabric of life.

Human Connection – As humans, our need for connection and belonging is perhaps our most fundamental need. This means that we experience being seen, heard, accepted, supported and valued just as we are, across all levels of human relationship: in our intimate relationships, our families, social circles, communities and broader society.
